FAQ:

Q: Do I need a partner to join?

A: No partner required - we swap partners throughout the class so that everyone gets a chance to dance.

However, if you are coming with a partner and don't wish to rotate, please speak to your teacher prior to the class starting so we can accommodate this smoothly.

Q: What should I wear?

A: We recommend wearing comfortable clothing. Dancing can get quite warm, but usually a t-shirt and jeans or equivalent work well.

For shoes, try to wear something without too much grip and with smoother soles. This helps you to rotate and twist more freely and reduces pressure on your knees.

We sell dance socks that you can put over the toes of your shoes that work well for trainers, etc. Please contact us on the night if this is something you would like to purchase.

Q: What is the difference between a 'Leader' and a 'Follower'?

A: We don't assume gender specific roles in our classes. A 'Leader' is the role traditionally danced by males, and a 'Follower' is traditionally danced by females.

Leaders tend to instigate the moves through signals, whilst the follower actively feels these signals to carry out the moves.

You are free to choose whichever role suits you best - please select your desired role when you book - this helps us to balance the classes.

Q: What type of salsa do you teach?

A: For our main classes, we teach Cross Body Salsa, generally danced in lines (sometimes known as LA style).

However, we teach techniques that set you up to dance other styles such as Salsa Cubano and NY style. We often dance Rueda as a group during the social, which uses Salsa Cubano as its foundation.
